Returning for 2 weeks holiday to Chiangmai, June 2016

Traffic's just as bad as ever in Chiangmai. No, wait... it's worse. I'd forgotten just how long the traffic lights at the Huaykaew/Nimmanhemin intersection were.

I'll upload these pix in random order to save time. Some were in Bangkok. Like these, er, handbags...

...and endless bling...

The old boat motif so commonly seen in restaurants...
...also appears in high end retail architecture:

Large plastic 'things' are multiplying outside shops to attract attention...

...and the Chinese tourism boom continues, even though Thais don't much like them. Outside Maya Mall is a large 'lucky Chinese cat' waving its arm tirelessly to rake in profits...

Deliveries are no longer by boats on canals. The canals are all filled in and turned into roads... and the authorities are mystified why flooding is worse in the monsoon season...

The creative use of a plastic bottle to create a waterproof connection...
...and a loose wire hanging at child height in a Bangkok river ferry...

Took a wander thru Bangkok's flower market...
Mondays are yellow bcoz that's the King's colour and his birthday is on a Monday:
You can buy ANYTHING at the Chatuchak market...

Santichai Prakan park, where [according to propaganda] the British Navy was repulsed
from Thailand. Not.

Good thing the Brits didn't take over... or we might never have had shoes like these...
...or a mock-up library with books full of fresh air...
I'd better stop now.
